The History, Heart, and Healing of Chumuckla Springs

For generations, travelers sought out these mineral-rich springs in search of rest, relief, and renewal. Today, the story continues at a riverside resort built for those who find peace in the quiet places.

Waiting List

History flows here.

For more than a century, the waters of Chumuckla Springs have drawn people in.

They came seeking rest. Relief. Families traveled for days just to stand in this spring. To wade through healing waters. To spend a few nights in a simple cabin and feel whole again.

At its peak, Chumuckla Springs welcomed visitors from across the country and beyond. There were steamships from Europe, wagons through the woods, and stories of powerful cures passed from generation to generation.

A pavilion stood over the bubbling spring. The water ran clear and cold. And the land became legend.

Some even believed it was more than legend.

The Pensacola News Journal claims that Chumuckla’s mineral-rich springs were thought to be part of the same source sought by Ponce de León — the legendary Fountain of Youth that drew Spanish conquistadors to Florida’s shores.

Then, as roads changed and time moved on, the gates quietly closed.

But the water never stopped flowing.

Today, we’re restoring Chumuckla Springs with the same spirit that first made it sacred. Not as a theme park or a campground, but as a gated riverside community for those who want to own a piece of what once was.

This resort was designed to honor its roots while offering something rare in a world that moves too fast:

A place to unplug, settle in, and let the land do what it’s always done.

Heal. Restore. And quietly hold the moments that matter most.

What makes Chumuckla Springs different?

This isn’t your average Florida RV resort.

You won’t find rows of jam-packed sites or loud parties every weekend.

No traffic. No chaos. No chain-link fences.

Instead, you’ll find something quieter, slower, and more meaningful.

Here’s what sets Chumuckla Springs apart:

  • A Place With History

Our resort sits just upriver from the original site of the Chumuckla Mineral Springs — once believed to have healing powers. Locals say the word “Chumuckla” means healing water, and you’ll feel why the moment you arrive.

  • Cabins & RV Sites, Gated and Peaceful

Whether you rent a cabin or pull in your RV, every site includes full hookups, a concrete pad, and plenty of space to breathe. This is a gated, low-traffic community designed for rest, not rush.

  • Not a Campground. Not a Subdivision

With just 40 RV sites available in Phase 1, Chumuckla Springs isn’t big and that’s the point. We’re a small, quiet escape on 55 wooded acres by the river.

  • For Those Who Crave The Quiet

We built this place for people who appreciate stillness and want birdsong, not background noise. For travelers, snowbirds, and families who still believe the best memories come from simple days in beautiful places.

Why did we bring it back?

Some places are too special to stay quiet forever.

For years, the dream of restoring Chumuckla Springs lived just beneath the surface — waiting for someone to do it the right way. With care. With respect. And with a vision that matched the soul of the land.

This resort was never meant to be big.

It was meant to be the kind of place where your kids run barefoot.

Where your mornings are quiet and your memories last longer than your cell signal.

Bringing Chumuckla Springs back wasn’t about development.

It was about stewardship.

And if you’ve read this far, maybe it’s meant for you, too.

Davy Crockett marched through Chumuckla…

In this brief on-site talk, local historian Dr. Rucker paints a vivid picture of late 1814, when Davy Crockett, Uriah Blue, and their allied forces crossed the Escambia River into what’s now Chumuckla. Their mission: to push back hostile tribes during a broader campaign leading up to the Battle of New Orleans.

According to tradition, Crockett and his men waded through the very basin where the springs still flow today, approaching the village from the west — through the same waters that now bring peace instead of conflict.
